7 Questions to Ask Yourself When It Comes to Change

Whether we like it or not, change is an inevitable part of life. Around us, things are constantly changing, and sometimes, we need to make changes in our own lives to adapt and thrive. So today, in this blog I want to delve into seven important questions to ask yourself when it comes to change and I encourage you to think about the impact that creating some change can have on your life.

Change plays a vital role in our personal growth and development. It exposes us to new ideas, experiences, and perspectives, allowing us to learn and expand our understanding of the world around us. Change is often the driving force behind major breakthroughs in our lives. When we embrace new ideas and approaches, we can create new solutions to old problems and make progress in areas where we have previously been stuck. Additionally, change also helps us become more flexible and adaptable, which is crucial for success and well-being.

So today, I would love you to ask yourself these 7 questions:
1. If you take a moment to reflect on any changes you have been resisting in your life, what would it be?

It could be a fear of the unknown, the fear of being judged by others, or simply a preference for the familiar, which keeps you living what we call in high performance the ‘comfortable’ life. Being able to identify the reasons behind your resistance can help you understand your mindset, and overcome any barriers that may be holding you back from embracing change.

2. What do you want to change, and what do you want to stay the same?

Consider the different areas of your life—relationships, finances, career, hobbies—and determine what you genuinely want to change. Getting clear on your desires and what is working well is essential for making meaningful changes. It allows you to focus your efforts and energy on areas that truly matter to you.

3. What do you want more of and what do you want less of?

In your life, think about what you want to experience more of and what you want to minimise. Reflect on how certain situations or people make you feel—whether they bring you happiness and energy or drain you. Identify ways to increase the positive elements in your life and reduce or eliminate the negative ones.

4. What makes you happy and what makes you unhappy?

If you are aware of what increases your levels of happiness, how to you bring more of this into your life? Pay attention to the things that make you genuinely happy and fulfilled. Reflect on specific activities, relationships, or accomplishments that have brought you joy in the past. Similarly, consider the factors that contribute to your unhappiness. By identifying patterns and understanding what brings you happiness, you can make intentional choices to incorporate more of these elements into your life and you can aim to reduce the factors that contribute to your unhappiness.

5. What do you need to choose to keep and what do you need to let go of?

Making choices is a crucial part of the change process. Determine what choices you need to make to align your life with your values and aspirations. This may mean letting go of relationships, friendships, or even a job that no longer serves you. Remember that choosing change can be both fulfilling and challenging, but it often leads to personal growth and a more authentic life.

6. What are your priorities?

Clarify why you want to make a particular change and make it a priority in your life. Consider how this change aligns with your values and what impact it will have on your overall well-being. Relate this priority to your use of time and make conscious decisions to allocate time and resources to support the change you desire.

7. Ask yourself, if you could make a bold change in your life right now, what would it be?

How would your life be different? Imagine the possibilities without the fear of failure or judgment. Envision the bold change you would make and how it would transform your life. Allow yourself to dream and visualise the positive outcomes of taking that chance. Embracing change with courage and determination can lead to a life filled with fulfilment and purpose.

Change is an integral part of personal growth and development. By asking ourselves these seven important questions, we can embrace change as an ally rather than an enemy. Understanding the reasons behind our resistance, clarifying our desires, and making intentional choices can empower us to live our most fulfilled lives. Embrace change and embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth.

Until next time, live a successful, purposeful, and fully charged life.
