9 Ways to Magnify Your Levels of Selfcare

When I have initial conversations with clients, it’s rare for them to approach me because they’re already feeling fantastic and want to maintain that state. Typically, they seek assistance because there’s an imbalance or something missing in their lives. They come with a common desire: to improve. Often, they want to make changes within themselves that will positively impact both their personal and professional lives.

The first step toward creating this change is recognising that we can only enhance our relationships with others once we improve our relationship with ourselves. This realisation can sometimes be a bit daunting. We witness this dynamic play out in our lives all the time. When we’re clear-minded and energised, we tend to be more patient and understanding towards those around us. On the flip side, neglecting self-care leads to shorter tempers and altered interactions.

Self-improvement naturally follows when we prioritise ourselves and practice self-care. So today, I’d like to share nine ways you can incorporate self-care into your life to enhance your performance, both personally and professionally and live a high performance life!

1. Practice Gratitude:

Set aside time each day to appreciate the things in your life that bring you joy and fulfilment. By consciously engaging in this simple task, you send a signal to your subconscious that you’re focusing on the positives, which helps you spot even more positivity around you.

2. Reframe Your Mind:

Instead of dwelling on negative thoughts or complaints, empower yourself by redirecting your mind towards positive thinking. Ask yourself questions that encourage a shift in mindset. For example, rather than saying, “I wish I didn’t have to work today,” ask yourself, “How can I make the most out of my day today?” By reframing your thoughts, you can change your perspective and concentrate on the possibilities rather than the limitations.

3. Plan Your Future:

Take control of your schedule and prioritise self-care by organising your days, weeks, and beyond. Allocate time for yourself, including projects, tasks, and activities that contribute to your well-being. This helps you say no to distractions and maintain focus on your self-care commitments.

4. Schedule Self-Care:

Identify what brings you joy and plan it in advance. Whether it’s alone time, socialising with friends, or engaging in activities that make you feel good, scheduling them ensures you make time for what’s truly important to you.

5. Reflect Intentionally:

Set aside intentional time to reflect on your days and how they make you feel. Identify what brought you happiness, energy, motivation, exhaustion, and more. This reflection helps you determine what you want to increase in your life and what you want to avoid or reduce.

6. Prioritise Sleep:

Make sleep a priority and ensure you get sufficient rest. This may mean saying no to late-night activities or setting boundaries around work or entertainment. Prioritising your sleep has a tremendous impact on your overall well-being and productivity. It’s a game changer!

7. Speak Your Truth…Kindly:

Express your thoughts and opinions honestly and respectfully. This might involve declining events or activities you don’t want to participate in, sharing your disagreements constructively, or carving out guilt-free time for yourself. Speaking your truth is a vital aspect of living authentically and practising self-care.

8. Set Ambitious Goals:

Establishing ambitious goals provides motivation, purpose, and direction in your life. When you have a clear goal in mind, you prioritise your time and energy towards activities that will help you achieve it.

9. Schedule Breaks Throughout the Year:

Plan regular breaks to rest, recharge, and rejuvenate. Whether it’s blocking off a week or two every few months, a day each month, or a weekend getaway, make sure to include time for relaxation and reflection. Taking breaks is crucial for maintaining your energy and well-being.
